2112 is a Copenhagen-based hybrid gallery founded by art historian Caroline Bøge. We embrace a multifaceted approach to contemporary art, combining art advisory, artist representation, curated exhibitions, and international collaborations.

Company history
2112 began in 2016 as 2112 Art Advisory, operating from a small office in central Copenhagen. In the first years, the business evolved to include artist representation, with an early focus on supporting female artists. In 2019, we relocated to the industrial and culturally progressive Northwest district of Copenhagen to open our first showroom. This marked a pivotal moment, establishing 2112 as a visible presence on the Danish art scene.

In 2020, we expanded with an adjacent project space, enabling us to present curated and experimental exhibitions. The same year, we adopted the name 2112 to reflect our hybrid structure and broader scope. Following several years of growth in NV, in May 2023 we returned to the heart of Copenhagen to open our doors on Holbergsgade 20, where we present an ongoing program of curated exhibitions and display selected works in our showroom and office. Most recently, in spring 2025, we expanded with a second 2112 location on Rådhusvej 1 in Charlottenlund, north of Copenhagen.

Personal background
Caroline Bøge holds a master’s degree in art history from the University of Copenhagen and Harvard University. Before founding 2112, she was gallery director at the leading Danish gallery Nils Stærk, gaining extensive experience in the international art market. Caroline’s first career was in classical ballet; she was educated at The Royal Danish Ballet School and danced in the corps de ballet of The Royal Danish Ballet until she chose to stop dancing in 2001.

Art has always been part of Caroline’s life. In the 1980s and 90s, her parents Thomas and Lone Jepsen owned Galerie 2112, named after Caroline’s birthday on December 21 — which is also the birthday of her great-grandmother and namesake, Caroline. The name 2112 pays homage to these family roots and to the cyclical nature of life, honoring those who came before us.
