 2112 POP UP RØRVIG

Strawberry Fields Forever

This summer, 2112 presents the pop-up exhibition ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ at Lodsoldermandsgården in Rørvig featuring works by Eva Weis Bentzon, Ruth Campau, Lars Christensen, Sophie Dupont, Jeannette Ehlers, Gun Gordillo, Lea Guldditte Hestelund, Malene Landgreen, Kirstine Roepstorff, Dan Stockholm, and Carla Zaccagnini. Situated at the harbour, Lodsoldermandsgården is one of Rørvig’s oldest buildings and among the first things you encounter when arriving in Rørvig by ferry.

The exhibition is shaped around a shared connection to place — both personal and artistic. For 2112 founder Caroline Bøge, Rørvig has been a constant throughout life. Her family has spent generations here, and childhood summers were spent in the family summer house near Dybesø. Today, both Caroline and her colleague Cecilie share a deep-rooted connection to Rørvig, each being third generation with family summer houses in the area.

Alongside works by the gallery artists, the exhibition includes a photographic work by Caroline’s father, the late Danish artist Thomas Leo Jepsen (1944–2022), who lived and worked in Rørvig during the last 20 years of his life. The photograph shows Caroline as a child standing on a large stone at the shoreline of Rørvig beach, her body leaning forward in the wind, reflecting Jepsen’s longstanding interest in the relationship between body, landscape, and movement.

Borrowing its title from John Lennon’s iconic 1967 song, Strawberry Fields Forever unfolds around ideas of memory, longing, and childhood landscapes. The exhibition also marks the 10-year anniversary of 2112, founded in 2016 as a contemporary art platform working across artist representation, art advisory, and curatorial collaborations. Today, 2112 operates from galleries in Copenhagen and Charlottenlund — and for this summer, also from Rørvig.

On view until mid-August.

Join us for a gathering on Saturday, May 23 from 15–17. Wine and snacks will be served.
